Enchanted Realms - call for test players!
Hey all,

I've been developing a cool new roleplaying game, Enchanted Realms, which uses only cards to create and play truely dynamic adventures.  I've got play test groups in South Carolina, Vermont  and Minnesota, but I'm looking to start a local test group. I'd really like to come in and show you folks what the game is all about and (hopefully) get your group involved!

If there is interest in getting a test group started, I'd like to meet at least one weeknight every other week. (more if the interest and scheduling are there!)

I've got a discussion group going on Facebook, just search  for Enchanted Realms (look for the green card). Also, you can go to www.rpgen.com and read the latest blogs on the game.

Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested!  You can reach me (Mike Downey) by posting replies here, or emailing me at mrmike65@hotmail.com.

African Americans of Asian related interests. This includes cosplay, egl, anime, manga, conventions, jrock, Asian culture, etc. We're gamers, we're punk, we're goth and whatever in between. The goal is to unite fellow African Americans with similar interests in a community that won't label them the "odd ball" or anything like that. If interested, you can check it out at

Add it, not me lol

Sorry if you view this as spam. I'm just trying to reach my targeted audience, hence why your community is seeing this post.

seeking like minded friends
Hello. I'm looking to make LJ friends. I'm a virgo, age 23 and a female. I'm orginally from Wilmington, DE. I am founder of an anime club there called Delaware Anime Fans (DAF) and our Go club . I recently moved to VA Beach with my Navy husband. I'm looking to start an anime club in the Hampton Roads area. I'm into anime, cosplay, manga, video games, forensics, forensic shows like Cold Case Files on A&E and City Confidential, psychology, astrology, reading, pets, doujin, yaoi, jrock, harry potter, the paranormal, and may other things (which can be found in my user info). My dream jobs would be working in a morgue being a forensic pathologist or a criminal psychologist. I'm looking to make friends that share my interests, local friends are a plus and fellow Navy wives that can show me the ropes.

Personality wise, I'm withdrawn, not much of a talker. My friends label me as the "recluse." When comfortable, I open up and am often called the ditz. If anyone is familiar with Sailor Moon, my nick name is "The Black Usagi."

Feel free to add me on my sn poeticsadness because this is my secondary sn.

Thank You

So Fall Semester has Started
When do meetings and things start? I want to be more active this year, since I have more time and less stressful classes. Do the officers stay the same? Are Halo Fridays a thing of the past or will that still be happening this year? Give me a heads up, and I'll spread the word.

SheVaCon Transportation
Kris brought up an alarming point- we don't have transportation worked out yet for SheVaCon. We need to have at least a couple of people willing to drive and others to help with gas.

Games Club meeting for 2/02
For anyone that missed or wants to look back, here's what we talked about at the last meeting.

We started off talking about whether or not people wanted to keep the club actively pursuing projects, as it appeared that nobody had any real interest in working towards achieving those projects. Those fears were somewhat sidestepped when more people showed up to the meeting.

Laura brought up the possiblity of attracting new members by hosting World of Warcraft LAN parties. The student center is basically equipped for it, seeing as how there is free wireless internet and that sort of thing. That kind of stuff is outside of my field of knowledge, but if she or someone else that knew more about it wanted to pursue it, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Dr. Sparhawk had an idea for a current events game. The premise would basically be that it is hosted, say, every week, and then we create questions based on the events of that week. The players would raise a card with a letter on it, and everybody that has the right answer stays in the game. Those with the wrong letter would be out. He suggested maybe having a $1 buy-in, and the last man standing would wind up with half of the pot. He spoke to Linda Adams about it immediately following the meeting, and it does turn out that this kind of game is perfectly legal (state rules about that sort of thing are kind of weird sometimes).

There was also some talk of starting a roleplaying game. We wound up thinking that the best thing to do is have a simple session one day that is very uncomplicated and can pull people into roleplaying that have never done it before, and then from that point on, any players that want to continue with the game can take part in the further developing story.

Also, some discussion of miniatures took place. Dr. Sparhawk said that it wouldn't difficult to put one of his on one day in the future. Seth has a number of games that he would like to play, but resources are an issue.

Then we agreed that we needed to focus our initial energies in one direction, and then expand from there. Halo was generally agreed upon to be that direction. If we can't get that going again, which has been the most basic function that is generally associated with this club, then that does not bode well for anything else. I want to aim for the upcoming Friday (a week from this update) as our next time. Anybody that has an X-Box and Halo 2, bring it, along with a TV if possible. Thanks.

Dr. Sparhawk has sudgested that we march with the CVCC float in the Christmas parade on Dec 3, but we need uniforms. If we can, we'll get T-shirts made, but we have a very short deadline. That will be Matt's and my problem at the moment, but you need to sign up to march if you want a T-shirt next monday. The t-shirt will be free if you march, but hoodies are an extra $10. After monday you'll have to pay for any t-shirts we have left.

Any one interested in my running some painting demos this weekend? They will not be hands on and it'll be for friends only, but I can explain what I'm doing as I paint miniatures.

Just a reminder to everyone that the gaming day is this weekend. Bring your cards, miniatures, consoles and dice, and go crazy. I think that the money that we were granted is probably going to just go to food, so you likely won't have to worry about food for that day (still working on the specifics of money withdrawal and that sort of thing - mental note, need to talk to Laura about that). And bring a friend!

It appears that Halo Fridays are dead due to a lack of management and interest. Please prove me wrong.
